Japanese Encephalitis occurs mainly in rural parts of the Asia. Many children across Myanmar annually are diagnosed as suffering from Japanese Encephalitis.
The Ministry of Health and Sports cooperated with Gavi, UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) implementing the immunization schedule for Myanmar. This vaccination campaign aimed to reduce mortality from diseases that can be prevented. Under the management of the Ministry of Health and Sports, the vaccination campaign include two themes; a school based program between the age of 5 and 15 for vaccinations conducted in November 2017; and a public based program (children aged 9 months to 5 years ) in the month of December. The School-based program has been successfully completed in the MYTCL Mine Town School. The public-based program was conducted in the MYTCL's Mine Town Hospital on the 13th of December. Doctors and nurses observed the children for an hour after being vaccinated for safety during the vaccination campaign according to the health authorities.
