hospita1On 8 May 2013 at 08:00, the head of the Letpadaung Copper Project Implementation Committee, Minister of the President's Office U Hla Tun, and Chief Minister of Sagaing Region attended a ground breaking ceremony of the new Kangone Hospital located outside of the Kangone Village. This project has been sponsored by Myanmar Wanbao Mining Copper Limited and Myanmar Yang Tse Copper Limited. This project will come to cost over 200 million kyats.

dscf2671Access Road Repair Project between Aye Kone and TharYarKone villages in the Salingyi Township

Upon special request of the village Monks and Administrators this project was completedon the northern side of Letpadaung copper mine site. This road was originally constructed by villagers and had become badly damaged due to weathering and erosion making it very difficult to access, especially in the rainy season. Myanmar Yang Tse Copper Limited was quick to reply to this request and construction began before the onset of the 2012 wet season.
The equipment required for this repair was extensive and began on the 22nd of July and finalized on August 15th of 2012.
One 2m3 excavator was operated by MYTCL employees for 8 days, one 50ton loader for 14days and four 20ton dump-trucks for 20 days
Backfilling earthwork consisted of 2600m in length and a 4m width.
The project had a total value of 9,400,000 kyats (22,864 FEC).



Fire Relief at the Moe Gyo Pyin Village

Fire Relief Moe Gyo Pyin Village 55211At 15:00 on February 15th 2013

The Moe Gyo Pyin Village caught fire and immediately Myanmar Yang Tse Copper Limited and Myanmar Wanbao Mining Copper Limited sprung to action. Supported by MEHL, the 43 family members of 10 families and of 8 homes that burst into flames were rescued by fire trucks and staff from the 2 mine sites. The following day the 3 companies donated relief funds to the families of 500,000 kyats per home, along with rice, cooking oil and soap to provide speedy assistance to the villagers. For 2 of the families that are employees of the mines, additional aide is being offered of clothing and cooking utensils, as well as assistance in the rebuilding of their homes.



New Scholarship Programs for Villagers at MWMCL & MYTCL

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT FOR LOCMyanmar Wanbao Mining Copper Limited is introducing scholarship programs for those who have proved outstanding in their examinations, however face financial difficulties that do not enable them to proceed with secondary education. Focus for such assistance has been given to those who are from the regional villages near both MWMCL and Myanmar Yang Tse Copper Limited - MYTCL. Myanmar Wanbao Mining Copper Limited will also create job opportunities for students who are awarded scholarship programs. Upon graduation from university, they will be recruited to various work sites in MWMCL and MYTCL. According to the this program a total of 81 university students are currently receiving scholarship awards from Myanmar Wanbao Mining Copper Limited for the 2012-2013 academic year.
